The mission of Muhammadiyah Australia College is to foster learning and spiritual development in an environment where students can realise their full potential as citizens so that they can meaningfully contribute to society. The College works towards developing students as global citizens with the capacity to engage in meaningful work, embrace and respect society’s laws and norms, and to make a personal contribution to civil society.
Faith (Eeman) – nurturing the correct practice of Islam according to Al Quran and Sunnah
Respect (Akhlaq) – promoting respectful and positive relationships
Excellence (Ihsan) – encouraging the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of life
Innovative (Tajdid) – learning from real life problems and seeking creative solutions
Entrepreneurship (Amal) – developing skills and confidence required in a competitive market, and
Enlightenment (Tanwir) – encouraging contribution by all for the betterment of the community.
In accordance with the Education and Reform Act 2006, Muhammadiyah Australia College is committed to deliver programs and teaching in a manner that supports and promotes the principles and practice of Australian democracy. This includes a commitment to the principles of a liberal democracy:
In all documents, in all practice by students and teachers, in work with the college Council and the community, in all teaching and learning programs, in all college initiatives, in all internal and external interactions, in all organisational structures and practices, the vision of the college will sit at the centre and there will be expectations about all work aligning with the college vision. Regular evaluation processes will be in place to measure performance in all areas of the college with respect to the implementation of the vision and values of the college. The process at our college can be represented as the vision, values and beliefs at the centre. In an outer ring there will be a set of principles. As a further outer ring will be a set of practices. A detailed list of college policies will sit within this framework. In all work in the college, the question “Is this work or process in line with the college vision, values and beliefs?” This question will be a fundamental part of the practice of all leaders in the college.
